Short stay Residence doesn’t require tax residence. 

Expat nomads can stay up to 180 a stay without tax residence. 

The EU Schengen zone is stricter only allowing 90 in 180 day total stay. 

With ETIAS this changes for visa free travellers to the EU who will also be constrained by the short stay rule (read more about ETIAS).
