ProACT Sam examines due dates

Do you ever find things getting done... eventually?

Do you find deadlines slipping at the due date and time?

We could all have those moments. These days, these weeks, these years.

The trick is not to make overrun and delivery of your to do list, goals and commitments a habit or routine.

-

How do we do this?

There are many factors at play in such time management execution.

One tactic and behaviour is to always do something at the due time.

Due time - not due date.

If you give yourself all day to do  you could waste 23 hours 55 minutes not getting it done.

Schedule a time and day to do that something.

-

It could be everyday.

If you want to exercise every day, best to set a fixed time every day and make it a habit.

Date Night

Or set a one-off time, a week on Tuesday at 2pm? Like a date.

Look forward to that time.

Be ready. Be your best self.

Then, at the appointed time, the due time, do what you scheduled.

Be it coffee with a friend, football with the kids, meeting an employee,  meetings a client, delivering a report.

-

Bang on time.

The application of doing the job at the due date, like turning up on a first date.

-

That doesn’t mean all goes swimmingly and the job gets done.

The job may take longer, have complications, need more time, a second date.

-

The point we are considering in this article is not to get the job done complete.  The lesson to take on board here, one of the skills you need in life, is to become skilled at doing the task you commit too at a specific scheduled time.

Whether that is a first date, or family time at home, new client meetings or an annual review with an old client.

We could schedule a time, commit to ourselves and others to do our best at that time, and at that time apply our focus and attention to doing our best for that one task.

We may not finish but will develop the reliability to be seen to complete the work on time.
