Purpose Brings Focus on Objectives

To Run a Mile on it’s own may not happen for many. For some it’s routine. Others could do it if the need arose.

What’s going on?

ACTION

If you are told to start exercising so decide to go for a run it may only to get the doctor off your back.

If your job requires you to stack two shelves a mile high, you could do as quickly as possible and then watch the clock tick down on your shift time.

In these examples the job gets done, the mile is run precisely, because it is required of us by ourselves or others.

PURPOSE

For those who want a healthy lifestyle and the joy of running in the zone with the body working like a fine tuned machine as you clock up the miles, to run a mile is an item on a to do tick list. A matter of course.

Or if you want promotion or a bonus at work, the object then is not to do the job but to do it well enough to impress and move on.

The difference between the two approaches is the purpose of the people. If lifestyle and career progression are your purpose your goals and objectives are set by that yardstick.

If there is no bigger picture, why, then the objectives and goals become functional and frankly hard work.

FOCUS

Consider your purpose. Why you do what you in your life , family and work. Top of the tree? Retire early? Large family? Travel?

This could be your purpose, to be a great parent, to be healthy, to build a career. Whatever it is what draws you on.

With purpose defined then your objectives and goals become different. You allocate time and prioritise in a different way.

You go the extra mile.

You put in the extra effort.

You exude confidence on your way.

Think about it, because it will,
