What to Do When In Doubt

Ever waited for guidance ? To be told what to do ? Where to go? What is expected of you?

We all have. The world is simple. There are two types of people - leaders and followers.
Everyone has a leader, a parent, a teacher , a mentor, a boss, the general, the president, your god.
So everyone is a follower.

Does being a follower mean you can't be a leader ? Of course not. The human society we live in allows for a hierarchy, an official or unofficial organisation of leaders and followers.
The teenage follows the parent, but leads the younger children.
The husband is the head of the family, the mother runs the home.
The team leader runs the office, and follows the manager who runs the business.
The Captain leads the company, the sergent leads the squad and follows the captain.
The first minister leads the parliament and reports to the President who leads the country.
The Bishop leads his followers, but follows the word of god.

We are all leaders and followers. Depending upon the time and circumstance.
In work you may be part of the team, reporting to the leader. But you will take the lead over junior staff that need guidance, cover for absence, make decisions based upon the organisation rules and processes.
In school you could be the student to the teacher, but influence and lead your fellow students with your insight and character.

So, if you find yourself waiting for guidance, wondering what to do... consider the situation. It's the time for you to take a lead.
There are rules of society , the organisation, the religion, the family, use them as a basis of your decision. Make a decision. Do your best. Within the rules. And ... you become the leader.
You take a positional leadership role that will get you ahead. You progress in the game, in work, in relationships.
You will feel better too, for ending the uncertainty. The doubt.

Most people already have some leadership position in their life. Look at any toddler giving their parent the run around. When in doubt, it is time to be that leader.
